Joel Boyd begins in Santa Fe
Among the summer work in which I have been engaged, and especially among the back to school speeches and presentations I have been giving, none excites me more than supporting Joel Boyd, the new school superintendent and his team in Santa Fe public schools. A link to recent coverage in the Santa Fe New Mexican about Joel’s plans is as follows:
On Friday, August 3 we will have discussed the Common Core State Standards, and going deeper than what is provided through these academic standards, especially focusing on the learner’s brain and what we now have access to knowing through brilliant work in neuroscience. We explore what even the non-instructional support areas can be doing to support this intensified work that is about to take place in Santa Fe. If you desire a copy of this presentation it will be available after August 5 on the Atlantic Research Partners website.
Santa Fe is lucky to have recruited Superintendent Boyd, and I look for this district to provide a good model for what needs to be done and what can be done in today’s American schools.
Watch them closely. I will too.
