Reform minded educators and civic leaders, put on your watch list the Santa Fe Public Schools, its new superintendent Joel Boyd and its 5-member Board of Education. This could be the current best case of right superintendent, right school board, and right community coming together at the right time.
Make no mistake, the Santa Fe Public Schools has a long way to go to reach its potential of becoming one of our nation’s best city school systems. As I peer into the work, and as my colleagues and I apply some assistance, I see great hope and promise. The speed and precision at which they are operating so far, provide great inspiration. Their students and teachers and families are in good hands, but they should expect to work very hard under leadership of Superintendent Boyd and governed by this Board of Education.
