Readiness for Kids for State Standardized Tests

No matter what ideology resonates with you regarding standardized testing in schools the reality is that state testing season is here, or soon to be, in most every state. It is time to prepare kids to sit for the exams and show what they can do.

A long time ago, Madeline Hunter taught us about kids’ “levels of concern”. We want kids to take their exams seriously, but when the level gets too high they topple mentally.

Take a look at this video, from the faculty at one of my favorite K-8 schools–CICS Prairie, under leadership of school director Andy Parker. Before you brand this video as “silly” think about how far a little fun and humor can go in readying kids for the serious side of test taking.

Good luck to kids at CICS Prairie, for all of Distinctive Schools students, for all of CICS students, and for all students as they embrace testing season.
