Increasing Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension in Schools

A study shows that reading to children, even older children who are capable of reading on their own, can have a significant benefit in reading comprehension and vocabulary while promoting an interest in reading independently. The study suggests students who have a designated reading time to pursue books of their choice at school results in reading more often in general. Reading to children even until an older age helps them to improve their vocabulary and grasp concepts that might not be contained in the books they choose for themselves.
