School Accountability Beyond Test Scores

State officials in Connecticut are broadening the measure on school accountability beyond test scores. They seek to add the arts, civics, physical fitness, attendance, and qualities like students persistence and personal development to be added to the list of area students should be showing growth and learning. Among other things to affect a schools rating are the number of advanced placement tests available at a school and how many students are taking them, as well as how many students go on to college or other postsecondary education and complete the programs they’ve enrolled in.
